These songs were, for the most part, recorded live. I had various synths and samplers, connected to a master sequencer, run through a mixer, and then into my tape machine. So I could just hit play and tweak knobs and faders, bring parts in and out, and sort of perform the song in the moment. There are imperfections; lead lines that are not perfectly synced, happy accidents, feedback, distortion, stuff I might normally fix in post production, but I felt like the songs had a certain energy that couldn’t be replicated with traditional recording methods, and I even tried with a couple of the songs to record all the tracks separately and give it a proper mix, but it just didn’t have the same feel. So I left them as is and decided to release them as a bunch of tracks that basically just encapsulate a moment in time that could not be replicated

Finally got this album with another repress. You can always tell a Hotel Pools song from the vibe it provides. Yet each album is different, possible sticking to a theme, creating that unique vibe but allowing for the listener to pick out when it's a Hotel Pools track.
